Exodus 21:22-23:13
Exodus 21 & 22
Some of these verses may not make sense to us and many certainly seem too harsh. When reading these verses we must read them in the context of the culture, the time in history, etc. They did not have a police force to provide order, there was no written penal code, no prosecuting and defense attorneys, etc. The hope was that the penalties were strict enough that people made right choices out of fear of the extreme consequences.
God only had what He had to work with at the time.

Exodus 23:1-9
Common sense type stuff.

Exodus 23:10-12
As much as most Christians want to ignore the fourth commandment, there was important reasons why God made it a commandment.

Matthew 24:1-28
Matthew 24:1-2
Jesus prophecy was totally accurate-the temple was destroyed around 70 A.D.

Matthew 24:4-8
This has been occurring for some time. The key is that the intensity of these things are increasing.

Matthew 24:9-12
This is starting to occur more regularly. No one can deny that hate and the lack of love is increasing rapidly. There are violent, vicious, unheard of deeds occurring much more nowadays.

Matthew 24:14
Through the use of radio, Internet, satellite, the Gospel is being preached throughout the world.

Matthew 24:15-23
Dual application-this occurred for the nation of Israel in 70 A.D. It will occur again for Christians.

Matthew 24:24-28
More and more there are those who claim to be the Messiah. We can ignore all the claims-the Messiah, Jesus, will come from the sky.

Psalm 29:1-11
Psalm 29:1-2
We should honor God because of who He is.

Psalm 29:3-11
The psalmist is emphasizing the power of God. He is confirming the reason why we should do vs 1-2, honor God.

Proverbs 7:6-23
It makes no sense to me that after reading this, why would a man fall prey to an immoral woman. To do so, is just foolishness, self-destructive, and deception.
