« Disrespectful Bloggers | More Postiive Note »
There is a blogger who has insinuated that I am implementing discriminatory censorship and pushing my authority around. At the same time they say this blog site is not Christian enough. Which is it?
So, it probably is time to inform blog site users my policy in dealing with blogs.
In almost 3 years we have 'censored' 2-3 blogs. Now we have immediately deleted mmany blogs that are obviously advertising, sexually explicit, etc.
I have no time to read all the blogs. I scan the blogs and see if anything jumps out. I also depend on those who are reading the blogs to inform me if there is a user or blog that would be considered un-Christlike.
Because someone chooses to journal and not use scriptures or not do Bible Studies on this site does not make it a less Christian site. If a person wants to only post recipes it does not make it less Christian.
Our policy is the person posting must be a Christian and their comments need to align with Christian principles in how they share and what they share. If they are promoting behavior or have an attitude that is obvious to most Christians is unbiblical or not Chritlike I will contact them to be careful what they post or even at times ask them to delete a post. Especially if they are not allowing comments from others to challenge their unbiblical position.
It is not my job as the admin to determine if a person is a Christian. Even as a pastor it is not my job to determine if a person is a Christian. That is for the Judge to determine. So, unless a bloggers behavior, attitude, and comments are totally contrary to biblical principles I will give the benefit of doubt in regards to the persons salvation. In this area I will lean towards being too merciful and gracious.
My postiion of being merciful and gracious should not be interpreted as I am 'soft' on sin. As a pastor I believe God calls believers to walk in holiness, to not compromise, to look and act like jesus. They should not see how close they can get to sin, but run from sin. I would be considered a holiness preacher. But that is my role as a pastor, not as the admin of this blog site. Even in the role as a pastor I refuse to fall into the trap of legalism that many fall into when they talk about holiness. The call to holiness does not give us a right to judge others hearts or to fall into the trap of putting man's traditions on people. Or saying 'there is only one true Bible', that 'unless you believe what I believe you are in rebellion', etc. Balance, balance, balance.
So, as the admin of this site, I believe by allowing Christians of various backgrounds, beliefs, etc. that there will be ultimately balance on this site. I would not call that 'discriminatory censorhip' or 'wheeling authority'.
I hope this brings clarification to blog users and blog visitors.
By the way, I am aware of a new site that unless they open their site for comments, change an image, and not promote a certain lifestle, I will ban them. There are many other blog sites available to use besides this one if a person wants to promote a lifestyle.
