Always behind

Yesterday a friend called me about setting up a time to walk the streets to do ministry. I told him "I am way behind on work and will need to get back to him." He said, "If I was to put a dollar in the bank every time you say you are behind, I would be rich."
His statement got me thinking. It seems that no matter how many no's I say, there are many more circumstances where I am saying yes.
It seems interesting to me that I have people telling me they are bored and that is why they make bad choices. It has been years since I have been bored. I can never understand how Christians can be bored.
At the same time I do believe that as Christians we can be too busy. Our 'busyness' needs to be according to the will of God. There will always be more to do than time to do it. Especially when there are those who are 'bored' and not doing the will of the Lord.
My hardest struggle is doing ministry and having to work a secular job at the same time. Because I am self-employed it is easier for me than many others, but of course ministry calls louder than working at times. Which means finances suffer.
There are times that I do not have work, but there are other times that I have paid work and I am overwhelmed with ministry responsibilities (those ongoing 'emergencies' that come up). I am learning how to determine what is an emergency and what is not. Also, the reality is that I'd rather do ministry than web design, process serving, apt maintenance, etc.
I am one who sees a need and does something about it. I have need for finances, so I need to do something about it. Time to go to work.
