We live just one mile from where the killings took place on Capitol Hill. The Rave that occurred before the all night party is less than a block from where we live.

Carmi and I attended the community meeting that took place on Capitol Hill. What a discouraging meeting. It was worse than what we even expected. It was a huge reminder that we live in one of the most liberal cities and neighborhoods in America.

I was hoping to share some concepts of how to deal with this tragedy and how to take steps to deal with the issue of young teenagers being at an all night party. However, it was very obvious that this was not the place to do it. One gentleman who appeared to be a Christian (but was antagonistic when he first started to share) was shouted down and mocked. A concerned mother started to speak and she was also totally disrespected.

The very liberal mayor, some liberal councilmen, and a liberal legislator were at the event. They just wanted to defend raves, never talked about the irresponsible behavior of youths and parents. All they talked about was gun control and never dealt with the issue of drugs at the crime scene, minors at the crime scene, a known drug flop house, etc. It was obvious they did not want solutions.

I gave the president of the council my business card and still wanting for a call from him. We did our names on the list of various community organizations and hope to make it to some meetings and give a different perspective.
