Status on Fairhaven House Discipleship Program
administrator | January 13, 2010 14:39

It has been a little over two months since we became the House Manager Overseers and Program Directors for Fairhaven House.

The landlord allowed us to do some remodeling of the basement apartment so it is much nicer to live in-praise God. Still have to finish the entry area so it is getting old with moving items in and out as we build false wall, Sheetrock, taping, etc.-the labor has been done by me and volunteers, so it is taking longer than usual-but almost done-yeah!

The first month we lost around 5 people because of drug use or not wanting to follow the rules. However since that time we have not lost anyone and we almost have both houses filled up. Right now we have some good guys in the houses.

Discipleship Apartment Looking Better
administrator | November 03, 2009 05:50

We got the apt painted, new carpet, flooring, new blinds, new ceiling tiles, and a door on my office area. The apt looks much better. Russ, the owner, is going to redo the entryway/utility room so that it is more welcoming.

Carmi and I moved into the apartment last Saturday. We had some great volunteers, so the move itself went well. Along with moving our stuff to the apt we were able to make a dump run with all the junk that had been at both houses. So thankful for all the help we had during this move.

House Manager Overseers and Program Director for Discipleship Houses
administrator | October 07, 2009 04:05

A couple months ago I offered a proposal to an existing Christian transitional housing program. The proposal was to convert the program to a Christian Discipleship Program. The existing program had poor leadership, thus leading to many problems at the houses. Instead of men's lives being transformed they were starting to fall back into the old ways. The owner of the homes has been wanting to see the houses to be used for a greater purpose.

Our proposal was that Carmi and I live at one of the homes and be the House Managers for both houses with assistants at each house. Also, I would become the Program Director with the responsibility of creating a spiritually based Discipleship Program. It would be a program that would help men grow in all areas of their lives. Because the owner of the buildings cannot afford o pay any salary, all we asked for compensation was free rent and utilities. Carmi would still work as a bank teller and I would earn income through our Internet Marketing business and web work.
